The Port of Oakland, CA
This short video of the Port of Oakland is a personal project, created as an experiment to explore a new creative workflow using AI as a support tool rather than a shortcut. I used ChatGPT to help shape the narrative, refine the script, and clarify the structure, while the visuals are built from a mix of drone footage I shot at the port in the past and newly captured aerials to complement the story. I have always loved filming large-scale industrial structures, both for their graphic power and for the human stories they contain. For the narration, I used ElevenLabs, which allowed me to maintain a consistent documentary tone. This project also reflects my preference for documentary-style storytelling, far removed from the fast-paced, purpose-free short videos that dominate today, where visual intent and quality are often replaced by frantic camera movements and abrupt cuts, resulting in an almost epileptic viewing experience rather than a meaningful one.
