Preparing well for a video interview or testimonial is crucial to the final quality of the content. Here are some guidelines:
• Dress according to the image you need to project but wear clothes you feel good about.
• We recommend solid colors or very subtle patterns but avoid plain white or black,
• Due to glare, matte fabrics rather than shiny ones are better choices.
• Avoid large stripes, busy prints, pinstripes, herringbone, checkers or other similar clothing patterns. They will distract from your facial expression and may appear to move on their own due a video unwanted visual effect called moiré.
• Colored clothing should contrast with your skin tone but not too much. Extremely light-skinned people should avoid black or very dark clothing and dark-skinned people should avoid wearing white or very light colors.
• Try to not have your shirt or top too wrinkled.
• Avoid wearing noisy clothing or jewelry that will make noise when you move your body or hands.
• If you wear glasses, please clean them thoroughly before the shoot. If you have the choice between glasses and contact lenses, we prefer contact lenses.
• Avoid rushing and sweating at least 30 minutes before the shoot to prevent the “shine” effect on your face and forehead.
• Do not come in hungry as the sound of your stomach growling will be caught by the very sensitive microphone.
• Gentlemen: Please shave the morning of the interview if you want to appear clean shaved. Look very closely for some facial hair you might have missed as extra hair (think ears and nose) will be noticeable under the lights in the video and cannot be retouched.
